Pomeroy Outsourced SE to the Commonwealth of Kentucky

  • While at COT I worked with the LAN, Server Support, and Application teams.
  • Member of a team to migrate the Governor’s Office for Technology (GOT) from NT 4.0 to a Windows 2000 / 2003 domain.
  • Team leader for the VMware implementation for the Commonwealth.
  • Designed networks and servers monitoring applications, easing management of networks
  • Provided support for a large government web application that uses numerous integrated technologies (including FileNet and Siebel).
  • Developed a web based application to allow for the monitoring of more than 200 servers, enabling administrators to spend more time on other tasks, resulting in a savings of more than 40 man power hours per week.
  • Part of a team to develop a custom program to create user accounts for a RAS / VPN solution using a combination of Perl and a PostgreSQL database to allow multiple accounts to be created within a very short period of time. We then updated the application to make it more user friendly and web based using PHP, PostgreSQL and the Apache web server on Red Hat ES3.
  • Implemented security upgrades on network for a large governmental agency consisting of more than 200 Intel servers and 400 workstations.
  • Wrote scripts to handle virus attacks in real time, across multiple networks and Operating Systems, and other programs to diagnosis and fix network problems.

Pomeroy Field Tech / SE

  • Team leader on a project for the Commonwealth Office for Technology to manage and update workstation security.
  • Managed installation and maintenance on servers, PCs, printers and network equipment for both Pomeroy’s local office and contract customers.
  • Migrated Pomeroy’s office network from Windows NT to Windows 2000, creating a more manageable office environment.
  • Managed other network and server problems as they arose via phone calls, office visits and hands on and remote troubleshooting.
